Seeing Yourself Through God’s Eyes
Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought, I’m not enough? Maybe you’ve doubted your abilities, your purpose, or even your worth. If so, you’re not alone. Self-doubt has a sneaky way of creeping into our minds, whispering lies that make us question ourselves.
But here’s the truth: You are God’s masterpiece!
”I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” —Psalm 139:14 (NIV)
God doesn’t see you through the lens of your doubts, insecurities, or past mistakes. He sees you as His beautifully designed, purpose-filled creation. So why do we struggle to see ourselves the same way? Let’s dive into some common moments of self-doubt and how we can overcome them with God’s truth.
When Self-Doubt Creeps In…
The Job Interview Jitters You’ve prepared, you’ve practiced, and now you’re sitting in the waiting room for your job interview. Suddenly, doubt starts screaming:
“What if I messed up? What if I’m not what they’re looking for?”
Sound familiar? We’ve all been there! But here’s what God says about fear and uncertainty:
”For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” —2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called. Walk into that interview knowing that your worth isn’t defined by your performance, but by the One who created you!
The Social Media Spiral You’re scrolling through Instagram, and it seems like everyone has it all together. Someone just bought a house, another friend is on their third vacation this year, and you’re still trying to figure things out. Suddenly, you feel behind—like your life isn’t measuring up.
Here’s the truth: Social media is a highlight reel, not real life. And more importantly, God’s love for you isn’t based on how “successful” you appear.
”But the LORD said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.’” —1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)
You are not behind. You are not less than. You are exactly where God wants you to be, and He has a plan for your life that is uniquely yours.
God’s Perspective vs.Our Perspective We often see ourselves through a negative lens, but God sees us through a lens of love and purpose. Here are a few examples:
• You might think, I’m not good enough. But God says, You are fearfully and wonderfully made! (Psalm 139:14)
• You might think, I’ve made too many mistakes. But God says, Nothing can separate you from My love! (Romans 8:38-39)
• You might think, I’m not talented enough. But God says, I’ve given you unique gifts for a purpose! (1 Corinthians 12:4-6)
• You might think, I’m all alone in this struggle. But God says, I will never leave you nor forsake you! (Deuteronomy 31:8)
The next time self-doubt creeps in, replace those lies with God’s truth!
My Battle with Self-Doubt When I first felt called to start RosyMinds, I was excited—but then the self-doubt hit me hard.
“What if no one reads my blog? What if people think I’m not qualified? What if I fail?”
I almost let those fears stop me before I even started. But then God reminded me: This isn’t about you—it’s about Me working through you!
So, I took a deep breath, prayed, and hit publish. And guess what? People did read it. They were encouraged. And it had nothing to do with me being “perfect” but everything to do with God using me, flaws and all.
Whatever God has placed in your heart—whether it’s starting a business, going back to school, or stepping out in faith—don’t let self-doubt hold you back. Move forward with confidence, knowing that God is working through you!
Let’s Get Real!
Take a moment to reflect on these questions:
1. What is one area of your life where self-doubt has been holding you back?
2. What lie have you been believing about yourself that you need to replace with God’s truth?
3. How can you remind yourself daily that you are God’s masterpiece?
I’d love to hear your thoughts! Drop a comment below and share your journey—your story might be the encouragement someone else needs.
